A possible mechanism that could allow for free choice
Have a good week Rabbi,
Recently, I had the opportunity to think again about the phenomenon of spooky action at a distance. As you know, two particles are quantum entangled and separated. When they are far enough apart, a measurement is made of one of the particles, thereby collapsing its wave function. At the same moment of the measurement, the wave function of the other particle also collapses, and this is before light has even been able to reach from one particle to the other. To the best of my knowledge, this phenomenon has also been demonstrated experimentally, and it has been shown that the theory of hidden variables cannot explain it. That is, when we measure one particle, it has a physical effect on the other particle in a way that exceeds the speed of light and the principle of locality is violated. In fact, from what I understand, none of the four laws of nature that we know can explain this phenomenon (and some have suggested that there is a fifth law of nature responsible for the phenomenon). Since the four laws of nature that we know operate in a deterministic manner that is incompatible with free choice, I had the idea that perhaps the "force" underlying this phenomenon could form the basis for a mechanism of free choice and, in general, an interaction between spirit and matter. I would be happy to hear your thoughts on such a possibility.
