Ben Gvir, the Cabinet and Hypocrisy

שו"תBen Gvir, the Cabinet and Hypocrisy
שאל לפני 2 שנים

Yesterday I heard quite a few commentators (on Channel 12) and opinion leaders encouraging the establishment of a unity government. But among other things, they said that Ben Gvir and Smotritz must be removed.
It is clear that there is a need for people like Gantz and Ashkenazi who have war experience, and therefore it is possible to give them great special weight in the cabinet. But isn't demanding their removal because they are extremists and unsuitable for a unity government an arrogant and delusional demand? How is it possible that they assume that unity does not include 15 seats from the people? Do Ben-Gvir and Smotritz have the right to think about different ways of war than Gantz?

I also think it's an inappropriate demand. Lapid raised it, but Gantz didn't. The added value of an emergency government is not the experience of Gantz and Eisenkot, but the legitimacy and trust of citizens and soldiers and the world. Therefore, it doesn't really matter how many chiefs of staff there are. In terms of creative thinking and decision-making, I don't think it's the government's job, and the army is probably weak in that either. I would expect them to now establish a multidisciplinary think tank to get a coherent proposal on the way to act. There are ethical, political, and operational aspects, and of course public ones as well. Creative minds are needed. In my opinion, the problem and the (justified) lack of trust are in the army and the government. They have demonstrated a lack of thinking and abject incompetence, and a replacement needs to be found. They need to focus on execution.
