Hello Rabbi
I've been dealing with surrogacy recently, and I looked at what you write about it. I saw that in your opinion, a woman should not be prevented from being a surrogate, since she has the discretion to decide whether she wants it or not. In general, of course, you are right, but you have to remember that since large sums of money are involved (and that's the case with prostitution), they can blind the person and cause them to reach a decision that they are not really interested in (reminds you of the column you wrote about a person who failed in a crime, which ostensibly was his desire, but in reality the feeling is that it is still some different thing that takes over the person and prevents them from making the right decision).
Therefore, in general, paternalism should certainly be avoided, but when it comes to matters where the desire for money or other strong impulses take over and prevent a person from making the right decision in the long term, I believe there is a need to examine external committees that are not influenced by these factors to examine whether this is a moral action.
