Hol Hamoed makeup

שו"תHol Hamoed makeup
שאל לפני 3 שנים

My wife is a beginner makeup artist. Someone contacted her following her ad and asked if she could do her makeup on October 1, 2023. My wife agreed, it was late enough, but when she checked the calendar for the Hebrew date, she discovered that it was on the Hol HaMoed Sukkot holiday.

Since it is forbidden to get married on Chol HaMoed, the following questions are asked:

1) Is it permissible to cremate someone for her wedding on Chol HaMoed? (Obviously, it is a matter of loss, but it is the matter of loss that is prohibited)

2) Is it permissible to cremate women in preparation for a halakhically invalid wedding? (Jew with a Gentile or Jew with a Jew [or Gentile, haha])

Thank you and sorry.

I think there is no prohibition. She will apply makeup to the woman and she will decide for what purpose it is done. Furthermore, I assume that the kiddushin performed in the Havham will not be conducted according to the Law of Moses and Israel. There is no prohibition on performing an invalid marriage ceremony on Chol HaMoed. Likewise, there is no halakhic prohibition against performing an invalid marriage ceremony between two women or between a Jew and a Gentile. What is prohibited is living together.
