International relations

שו"תInternational relations
שאל לפני 7 חודשים

Hello there
If we ignore for a moment the entirety of Israel's relationship with the international community, such as anti-Semitism, etc., and focus only on the legal and moral aspects, do you think Israel must uphold the laws of war that the countries of the world have agreed upon, against countries and organizations that, by convention, or by their declared ambition, are committed to the destruction of Israel and the Jews?
In my opinion, the international laws of war exist to limit, to reasonable limits, the suffering caused by wars that break out in good faith (if I may express myself in this context) between countries that have a conflict between them, and that fail to resolve it peacefully. A country that is under threat of annihilation, and as far as I have examined, the only country under such a threat is Israel, and the only people threatened is the Jewish people, cannot, morally or even practically, uphold these laws. Morally and legally, the nations of the world and the international community cannot demand this of us, after they have done nothing tangible against the countries and organizations that threaten us.
What do you think?

The principle is that the law must be upheld, including international law. But where it is clearly immoral, or where others do not uphold it and only we are required to uphold it, or where it is not really relevant to us (even if others think it is), it is clear that there is no point in upholding it. I am only talking morally and not about damage and politics.
