Massacres committed by the IDF, Etzel, and Lehi in Arabs and the attitude towards historical research

Hello and welcome, I was recently exposed to information following massacres committed by the IDF, Etzel and Lehi in Arabs and they were less few than I thought, there were at least 24 such incidents in the War of Independence (including Deir Yassin which was carried out by the Etzel and Lehi), then there was the Kibia and Kafr Qassem massacres which were carried out in the 1950s (under the command of Arik Sharon and were maliciously concealed by Ben Gurion who knowingly lied to the public and the world that the IDF did not do it). Even exemplary figures like Meir Har Zion, following the murder of his sister by Bedouins, simply went with his friends and murdered 5 random Bedouins in the area as blood revenge, all this information has quite shaken my beautiful image as if Zionism was a tallit covered in all blue. One of the great and honest historians who deals with these fields and exposed many of the massacres committed in 1948 is called Professor Benny Morris and he actually defends the Zionist narrative. And I say that in the situation of the War of Independence, what was done may not have been morally correct, but it is not unacceptable. I would love to hear if you have ever touched on the subject and what your opinion is, and if you haven't, then what your opinion is on the path to discovering the truth in historical research (because this world is quite full of agendas and biases). Thank you and all the best.

Hello. This is one of the famous ones. A few decades ago, a historical movement called "The New Historians" arose as part of the post-Zionist movement and brought up all these events that had been hidden until then. Apparently there were exaggerations and taken out of context, even a court rejected a thesis by a master's student in Haifa about the Tantura massacre. But it is clear that such events existed. They must be understood in their context. A different period. A feeling that there are no "uninvolved" Arabs (because there was no army there, and they harmed our citizens). But it is still clear that there were also acts that should not have been committed. The contribution of those historians, despite the (political-contemporary) agenda and the distortions, is that they revealed events that we wanted to hide even from ourselves. In my opinion, it is very important to expose such a historical truth and discuss it honestly. We are not a Talit that is all blue. These findings are not all factually correct. They are subject to interpretations saturated with agendas on both sides, and still this is an important discussion and must be done honestly. Benny Morris himself was one of the creators of this movement and later "repented." In my article on myth, I addressed the phenomenon and the meaning of the various references to it.
