Metaphysical Facts in Prayer
Rabbi Michael, how are you? I wanted to ask about prayer – how should I relate and direct my prayer in passages that speak of metaphysical facts if I do not believe or am not sure about these facts?
To wit: "He who illuminates the earth and its inhabitants with mercy, and with His goodness anew every day, always a work of creation…"

Hello. If you don't believe in something, you can't prepare for it. If it's absolute to you, don't say it. But it's worth checking carefully whether it's clear, and whether there isn't an interpretation that's acceptable to you.
The example you gave doesn't seem problematic to me. He established the laws of nature in His mercy so that they would illuminate us in His name every day always. What's the problem with that?
