nepotism

שאל לפני 3 חודשים

Hi, good afternoon.
I'm soon joining the IDF. I have profile 64 – meaning I'll be a jobber – and so my assignment is supposed to be determined by an assignment officer.
Now, everyone around me tells me that for a good job you have to use protections and connections, that's the only way it works, etc. I have relatives who can probably help me with this, the question is whether it's morally legitimate, because in the end it hurts another candidate's chances of getting this position, and the fact that the IDF works this way shouldn't make me behave like that either.
What do you think? Is this legitimate? What if I have good reason to believe that I could actually contribute more than the average intelligence officer to the role I want?
thanks!

I think that if the goal is to contribute more and not receive more, there's nothing wrong with that. Certainly if you think you'll contribute more than the average intelligence officer in that role.
