It seems to me that the fear of death does not require experience. On the contrary, the experience itself can perhaps teach that there is nothing to fear. The point is just to keep bringing this fear to mind, without any connection to the question of personal experience and experience. It seems to me that a funeral or attending funerals are excellent ways to do this.
