Studying Goth on Shavuot Night

שו"תStudying Goth on Shavuot Night
שאל לפני 2 שנים

Hello, Your Honor!
As a principle, for a long time I studied the Gemara in full, but I decided to take a break from studying the Gemara in order to establish myself a little more in the Bible and Jewish thought. The point is that I do my Bible studies mainly with friends, and I want to take a little break from the Gemara. I feel that my desire is currently going in another direction that is also important.. So, I have the next few weeks to study thought (and maybe I will also study the Book of Ruth).
The question is whether I can study Goth (for a Jewish purpose, which also includes Gentile thinkers), does this belong on Shavuot or is Shavuot a day for the Torah of Hashem itself and not Goth (which also includes Gentile thinkers)?

Thank you very much Rabbi!!
And good Sabbath

I see no difference between Jewish thought and ordinary philosophy. I would not engage in either on Shavuot, because it is the holiday of the giving of the Torah and this is not the Torah that was given.
