The prohibition of suicide
According to the teaching of Chazal, there is a prohibition in the Torah to commit suicide. What could be the logic in this? By what right do people force a person to live a life against their will? It is understandable to fulfill the commandments such as gratitude for life, etc., but to force a person not to die and continue to suffer? What could be the moral justification for such a demand?

A person has a role for which he was created, and therefore he is forbidden to take his own life. It is not his own, but his Creator's. Incidentally, in cases of extreme suffering there are jurists who permit suicide (like Saul who fell on his sword).
