Rabbi Michael Avraham, Shalom Rabbi.
1. Is it permissible to eat hot peppers immediately after picking them?
2. Drink tea with leaves picked and grown in my own yard?
In other words: What are the criteria for eating plants?

First, each type of plant must be checked for worms. Beyond that, there is the issue of the "Terrom". Eating arai before bringing it into the house does not require a "Terrom". But if you eat an amount that is not usually eaten at once, it requires a "Terrom", even for the garden. See the article by Rabbi Azriel Ariel, Amonat Atich 8, p. 20, S. HaTorah Ha'eretz 44, p. 202. And if you bring it into the house, you are obligated to set aside and tithe in any case.
