Why do you object to psychology?
Hello Rabbi Michi,
I see that you are quite skeptical of the ideas of psychologists, which you call 'the science of drawing'. I would love to hear why.
Is it because of the method, their conclusions, or for some other reason?
Thank you very much.

For several reasons:
- In my opinion, in most cases it's not science. Psychoanalysis, of course, is light years away from science. Most of it is just nonsense. But even in other branches of psychology, the conclusions are usually not formulated clearly and cannot really be refuted.
- A significant portion of the claims there are trivial. Another portion is philosophy rather than empirical findings.
- Beyond that, from my little experience, when psychology helps someone (I estimate that this rarely happens) it is not because of the discipline but because the psychologist has good intuition and human understanding (and an indication of this is that the number of psychological methods is almost as many as the number of psychologists). Note that in order to determine that a psychological technique works, a controlled, double-blind experiment must be conducted. Reports from people who have found it helpful are not enough. Even "Kabbalists" and "Ali Babuot" help all sorts of people according to their reports (by the way, in my opinion this is a very similar phenomenon to psychology. Mainly placebo). Inherently, it is almost impossible to conduct such an experiment in psychological therapy, since the treatment of people is individual to each case in a manner appropriate to it (unlike psychiatry). Therefore, psychologists feed on the reactions of individuals (like the cases described by Freud), which any beginner natural scientist will tell you is worth nothing on a scientific level. At most, it creates personal experience and insights for the therapist, but not discipline. Such personal insights are also created by the Baba and the reader in the cafe.
- Psychology must be divided between the description of the human species (a statistical description of human phenomena/reactions) and the methods of treatment. The first part has scientific components (very general and rather trivial), but the second part, in my opinion, is almost completely absent of them. Here I have dealt mainly with the second part.
- All that remains for me to do is to end by wishing Mr. fruitful studies 🙂
