Studying Halacha is not necessarily Torah

שו"תStudying Halacha is not necessarily Torah
שאל לפני 2 שנים

Hello Rabbi,

Is studying Halacha from the Gemara to the various opinions considered Torah study?
Is it from the moment I leave the Gemara towards the Rishonim and onwards that it is no longer Torah but rather the study of Halacha that is not Torah?

And do you know "Zorba Marvanan"? Is it worth learning from it?

Thank you very much.

I don't understand the question. What does it mean to study Halacha from the Gemara? That's what everyone does, isn't it? Studying the study to the halachic conclusion. That's exactly what Torah study is. Studying Rishonim and Achronim is certainly studying Torah. What does this have to do with studying Halacha that is not Torah? I really can't understand your concepts. I guess you took it from me, but I don't see any connection to what I say and write. I don't really know. But from what I've seen, it's definitely Torah study.
