What does the rabbi think about this? Does it have any meaning for us?

I don't like collective expressions like "for us." Whether or not that has any meaning for you is up to you to decide.
If you ask me, I think it definitely is. I'm not very excited, because I didn't have much faith in these areas of research and the difficulties they raise in the first place, and I think that even if the problems were correct, the implications aren't very dramatic (explained in the second book of the trilogy) and therefore I'm not very bothered by them. But a finding like this definitely strengthens, or actually weakens, the problems.
