Why are Haredim not allowed to send SMS?
Peace and blessings, Rabbi,
As someone who knows the Haredi society in depth, I would be happy if you could explain to me why they prohibit texting even on a "stupid" phone. I'm simply studying with a Haredi yeshiva boy and he can't send me messages because he doesn't have one because they prohibit it.

You asked a wonderful question. I've been wondering about this for years. In my opinion, this is a great example of the development of a "prohibition" and a religious principle that has no basis. Just because someone decided, and the rabbis who signed it still haven't seen and don't know what it's about. Classic Haredi. The cynics will tell you that there is some kind of economic interest here of rabbinical committees and rabbinical people who make millions from kosher telephones and keep their followers in sensitive places through strange prohibitions. The power of the written decree as a test of loyalty to a sect.
