Handing over a pedophile or someone who sexually harasses women to the police
Peace and blessings.
I would like to ask (due to an incident that occurred) about turning a pedophile or someone who sexually harasses women over to the police.
Sometimes when he is extradited, he suffers serious damage from the mere publication of the matter, and sometimes his innocent relatives are also harmed (say, he is imprisoned and cannot support himself, or his Haredi daughters are unable to find a marriage partner).
Morally, is it necessary to take these things into account?
From a halachic perspective, as above, is it necessary to take these things into account? And who is supposed to decide?
And is there one of the seven rules of the Chofetz Chaim in the story for the benefit of the Sha'ar – "that the story not cause harm to the harmer, greater than if it were ruled upon in a court of law"?
Thank you very much!
