Q&A: The Perfection of the Holy One, Blessed Be He
The Perfection of the Holy One, Blessed Be He
Question
Hello Rabbi,
Is it, according to the paradox of perfection and the solution that the Holy One, Blessed Be He, is perfected through us (in the sense of the esoteric idea that human service fulfills a divine need, or something like that), that He was “compelled” to create the world?
Answer
Maybe yes, but the necessity would stem from His nature and not from something external to Him. Just as He is necessarily perfect, or necessarily good (it is the nature of the good to do good).
Discussion on Answer
I don’t have a firm position on the question of whether the creation of the world was necessary. What I wrote here is that even if it was necessary, that necessity does not come from something outside Him. In principle I tend to think that there was no such necessity, and just as He can create the world or not create it, He can also destroy it.
Don’t give Him ideas.
Me, or the Holy One, Blessed Be He? 🙂
Can He return the world to chaos?
(You wrote here that yes: https://mikyab.net/%D7%A9%D7%95%D7%AA/%d7%9c%d7%99%d7%91%d7%95%d7%91%d7%99%d7%a5-%d7%95%d7%a4%d7%99%d7%9c%d7%95%d7%a1%d7%95%d7%a4%d7%99%d7%94/)
