A Wig
Question
With God's help,
Hello Rabbi!
Based on the views that hold that it is halakhically permitted for a woman to wear a wig, is there any halakhic limitation on the length of the wig, and if so, what is it?
This issue is important to me, thank you very much!
Answer
I do not think there is any limitation. Those who prohibit it hold that it resembles a woman's hair and therefore does not help as a covering for the hair. As long as it resembles hair, they will prohibit it, regardless of length. And those who permit it permit it at any length. That leaves only the general boundaries of modesty (that it should not be something very conspicuous).
Discussion on Answer
No
With God's help,
Can one define more precisely what "something very conspicuous" is, as Haredi seminaries try to do?
