Q&A: Corona from a Philosophical Perspective
Corona from a Philosophical Perspective
Question
Just a suggestion for a column.
I think it would be worthwhile to write a column about the coronavirus from the point of view of resource allocation and values — ethically and philosophically. a0
Is it right to shut down the economy because of the elderly? Wouldn’t it make more sense for them to go into isolation? Wouldn’t it be more proper for resources to be distributed more fairly? After all, in day-to-day life nobody says to shut down the movie theaters because of a treatment for the ordinary flu, which kills forty thousand people every year. I’d be glad to see a philosophical-ethical column on this.
All the best and much success.
What do you think?
Answer
I’ll think about it. Specifically, of course, it depends on the data, both economic and medical.
