Q&A: Three Questions
Three Questions
Question
A. How do you relate to misogynistic and racist statements in Jewish law and the Torah, for example “Blessed are You … who has not made me a woman,” or just the general attitude toward gentiles? Do you accept upon yourself only the halakhic rulings of the Sages, or also their value statements?
B. What is your attitude toward the miracle stories of the Sages? Do you reject them categorically, or do you examine each case on its own merits?
C. What do you think about the commenters called The Last Decisor and Maxmen—what do people from your site and from Atzor Yes Think of them? Are you under the impression that they are Torah scholars?
Answer
I do not regard the values of the Sages as binding, only their halakhic determinations.
I assume that in the time of the Sages there were no miracles.
I do not offer opinions about people.
