Q&A: Torah from Heaven, Kabbalah, General Thought
Torah from Heaven, Kabbalah, General Thought
Question
Hello Rabbi, three questions (unrelated to one another):
A. I understood that there are people who say that the Rabbi does not believe in “Torah from Heaven.” What does that mean? In other words, what does someone who believes in this principle actually believe in, and what does the Rabbi believe in?
B. I’d be glad to hear the Rabbi’s opinion about the wisdom of Kabbalah. (And of course, if there are articles on the subject and the like, all the better.)
C. I want to understand your general theological approach—about logic, its truth and meaning, about God, about Judaism and morality and science and evolution, etc. etc. Where should I start? (Books, articles, videos, lectures? And which ones?)
Answer
A. Ask whoever told you that. I do believe that something was given to us by the Holy One, blessed be He, at Sinai. Exactly what? I don’t know, and it’s also not very important.
B. Search here on the site. I also have a series of lectures on the topic (look under the lectures).
C. I don’t know what a “theological approach” is, whether mine or anyone else’s. Naturally, the ideas are presented in a more orderly way in books.
