The Author of ‘Tzitz Eliezer,’ of blessed memory

I have only just heard that the author of Tzitz Eliezer, of blessed memory, has passed away, one of the foremost halakhic decisors of our generation, and among the boldest of them (though not necessarily among the most popular). I understand that those accompanying him included people from across the spectrum, even though during his lifetime not everyone ‘accompanied’ him (as the saying goes, ‘Borrow on My account, and I will repay’ [Babylonian Talmud, Beitzah 15b]).
I would be grateful if the learned people here could enlighten us regarding his life, his method, and some of his distinctive rulings.
