2 Bibles and one translation
Why was 2 Mikra established as a legal obligation if in the Gemara it seems like a recommendation for those who want their years to be prolonged?

It is truly not agreed upon that it is obligatory. The Shulchan Aruch wrote it in the language of obligatory, but there are jurists who disagree.
