Q&A: Certainty
Certainty
Question
Hello, honored Rabbi,
Lately I’ve constantly been having doubts about the truth of the Torah, whether just ordinary doubts of "what if…" or doubts in the form of questions that really shake me. Also, sometimes, for example, when I read the weekly practice of reading the Torah portion twice and the Aramaic translation once, I look at the text and ask myself: was this really given by the Creator of the world? Sometimes the stories seem childish, and some of the claims of biblical criticism really do, in some way, seem to fit reason better. Does the Rabbi know what I can do in order to reach a solution?
Answer
The question is far too general. You can’t expect an answer to a question like, "From time to time questions come up for me—what should I do?" You need to look for answers.
