Question

Is there any way nowadays to change enactments that are no longer relevant? For example, the prohibition against leaving uncooked food on a fire before the Sabbath lest one come to tamper with the fire. Clearly today that concern doesn’t exist with a gas flame. Why are we stuck with such ‘outdated’ Jewish laws that don’t fit the reality of our times at all?
