A Concubine in Jewish Law
Question
I would be glad to hear your opinion regarding the possibility of permitting an unmarried woman through the option of concubinage (in connection with the articles by Zvi Zohar and the respondents published in Akdamot a few years ago; I assume you know them). Thank you.
Answer
Hello,
See Rabbi Shmuel Ariel's article in Akdamot, which responded to Zvi Zohar's remarks. In my opinion, this permission is very problematic, even if it can be grounded in several halakhic opinions. I also think that Zvi Zohar is very mistaken in his analysis of reality (in his conclusion that there is indeed a need for this and that it would help).
