Dawkins
Question
Rabbi Michael Abraham, hello.
In Dawkins's book, "The God Delusion," he cries out that children should not be labeled as "religious," etc., since they are not mature enough and do not have sufficient judgment to say that they are religious of their own will. It could be that I missed a few details in his argument. If so, I would be glad to be corrected.
What do you think?
Answer
How do you know he cried out? Is it an audiobook? Or can one cry out in writing too (as opposed to just shouting)? 🙂
I don't remember the argument, but I definitely agree that children who lack judgment are hard to define as holding any particular worldview. As for implicit belief, see the latest column (191).
