I didn’t understand why you yourself agree that it’s needed, and more than that, you agree that there are things like primitive concepts and essences that can’t be fully spelled out, and that have parts that are inexpressible… so why do you say that there is no need for deep spiritual work, only intellectual work?… I would say that what is needed is very deep spiritual work — moral, experiential — even before it can be expressed. In your terminology, I would say that this is what gives us the ability to grasp deeper synthetic truths, and therefore truer ones. Rabbi Kook talks about this, that there is a deep and necessary connection between a person’s moral and spiritual state and his capacity for knowledge… True, this does not show up in simple areas of knowledge like understanding logic and ordinary analytical reasoning, but it does show up more and more in areas of synthetic truths… What do you say about that?
