Q&A: Skepticism
Skepticism
Question
I read part of the book Truth and Unstable, but as a conservative person I was left with something unresolved. In my view, a skeptical approach cannot assign value to democracy or anything else, because the very fact that you support something means that you chose it with certainty and abandoned doubt. And one cannot say that democracy is some kind of tentative solution, because doubt is doubt—that is, maybe one should actually be conservative? As a result, a person who is truly doubtful would need to shut himself up in his shell without expressing an opinion about anything?!
Answer
Hello Meir. I’m unable to understand anything in this passage. Please formulate your question precisely, and use the appropriate terms. (How did you move here from a discussion of skepticism to democracy and conservatism?)
