And the holy Ari conveyed to the rabbi that there was great pleasure in Heaven from the deed of that Jew, and that because of this the rabbi would die that same year (he would not complete his year).
With God’s help, 24 Tevet 5780
To Mush — greetings,
The story about the innocent Jew who brought challahs to the Holy Ark, thinking that by doing so he was fulfilling the commandment of the showbread and that his challahs were being taken by the Holy One, blessed be He, while the synagogue rabbi scolded him and proved to him that it was the sexton who was eating the challahs, thereby causing the innocent Jew deep anguish — and the Ari told that rabbi that he was destined to be punished for the distress he had caused the simple Jew — is brought in Mishnat Hasidim. It was cited in Rabbi Eliezer Melamed’s article, “To Encourage the Scrupulous Women,” on the Arutz 7 website, and in the post “Two Stories about Simplicity and Complexity in the Service of God,” on the blog “Young Rabbi.”

Thanks, everyone!
Haha, no matter. The gist of the story is about someone who brought challahs to the synagogue, and he thought that the Holy One, blessed be He, was eating his challahs. In the end it turned out there was a sexton who was taking the challahs for his own family, something like that. And the rabbi yelled at the sexton that he had shown contempt for the simple faith of the simple Jew.
