The Holiness of Time
Question
Hello Rabbi,
If, say, a meteor were to hit the earth and cause it to rotate around its axis at double its current speed (and let’s assume we survive the impact), would we then need to observe the Sabbath once every two weeks? Or once every seven new rotations?
Best regards,
Answer
I don’t know. I would assume it would remain once a week (the new one: seven sunsets). See the holy book The Little Prince, by the great Rabbi Rabbi A. de Saint-Exupéry, in the pamphlet “The Lamplighter,” and you will find satisfaction.
