Q&A: Hello Rabbi
Hello Rabbi
Question
Hello, I saw an interesting YouTube video where you speak (“Meeting in the Bavli”). There you argue that Jewish law provides justice, and does not add extra moral elements, which are really only in the category of pious conduct beyond the letter of the law. I wanted to add that according to this, Maimonides’ words—that the purpose of giving charity is to perfect your soul—are very understandable, because you cannot require a person to give his money to others, but if it perfects you, then it makes sense as part of the service of God.
Another thing: in light of the shutdown of the yeshivot, etc., maybe you could give one or two weekly Talmud classes (for people with a learning background)? I don’t mean teaching specific passages, but more analysis, ways of looking at things, and so on. Thank you very much
Answer
I didn’t understand the question.
Unfortunately I don’t have time for that. I already give quite a few classes beyond the usual.
