Q&A: Hasidism Catholic Christianity?
Hasidism Catholic Christianity?
Question
Hello Rabbi,
The Rabbi addressed the question on this matter at the following link:
https://mikyab.net/%D7%A9%D7%95%D7%AA/%D7%97%D7%A1%D7%99%D7%93%D7%95%D7%AA-%D7%A0%D7%A6%D7%A8%D7%95%D7%AA-%D7%A7%D7%AA%D7%95%D7%9C%D7%99%D7%AA-%E2%80%8E
My question from yesterday, in which I detailed Hasidic practices, was censored. Was it because I did not give enough detail and was therefore censored, or does the Rabbi indeed agree that this is a "copy-paste"?
Best regards, Benjamin
Answer
The question was censored because you know what my opinion is about those practices, so it was clear to me that this was a “question” whose purpose was only to provoke a firestorm, nothing more.
Discussion on Answer
Similarity does not disqualify anything. Catholics also pray, so is prayer therefore invalid too? These are nonsensical, needling questions, and I see no point in dealing with them.
The Rabbi is avoiding an answer. I wasn’t actually asking about prayers; I was asking about religious practice—how religiosity finds expression. After 1,800 years since the outbreak of Christianity, Hasidism discovered its light within it, tasted and saw that it was good, etc. …
This really is shocking
On the contrary, in the link above the Rabbi did not condemn the practices, and that is why I asked. Moreover, as best I understand the Rabbi, the similarity between Hasidism and Catholic Christianity does not in itself constitute an argument to disqualify it, as above?
