Doesn’t the Rabbi think it’s a democratic problem that, for some reason, almost nobody knows the details of the plan this time?
A lot of people talk about it, but nobody really knows what’s included in it.
To be honest, I haven’t really looked online much lately, but I still read the news and so on.

I don’t know whether nobody knows. I don’t know, and I’m not interested either. But even if nobody knew, it really wouldn’t matter. We have much deeper problems in our democracy. And even if everybody knew everything, it really wouldn’t matter, because nobody has any influence, and there’s no connection at all between this plan and what will actually happen in practice, and no connection at all between the plan and what they really intend to do. In any case, you can’t believe a single word from anyone there, so all this really doesn’t interest me. Let them do whatever they feel like. And by the way, the ones to blame aren’t the politicians but all of us, for continuing to vote for them (except for me, since I didn’t vote for anyone).

It sounds like the Rabbi is completely despairing; the situation isn’t quite that bad. It just takes very large, heavy ships a long time to turn around.
Besides, some would say that for various reasons the state will become dictatorial soon, so then it really will make a difference which politician is at the top 🙂
