The “Coronavirus Pandemic” — A Kind of Repeated Question…
Question
First of all—congratulations on your daughter’s wedding, etc.
Regarding the coronavirus
Let’s leave aside for a moment discussions about the personalities of the doctors who oppose it, support it, Italy, China, the U.S., Bibi, right and left….
Intuitively, I assume that the accepted definition of a pandemic in ordinary language is an event of mortality at an unusual rate, beyond the normal or average.
The State of Israel, through the body in charge of statistics, publishes that this year, from January through July, no more people died compared to the same period in recent years.
So there is no pandemic in the country
Likewise—we can plainly see that the more we test, the more “sick people” we find.
We can plainly see that a large portion of the sick are not sick at all, but only suffer from mild symptoms, and sometimes not even that (I personally know about 10 sick people as described).
We hear with our own ears doctors from within the system openly admitting that the method is to count people who died of other causes but tested positive for coronavirus as coronavirus deaths.
I ask in astonishment, and truly out of a desire to understand—does the Rabbi really have no further thoughts about the whole concept of a pandemic??
Answer
Alex, have you come back to us? Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.
There is a pandemic. Those statistics say nothing. I’ll tell you more than that: even the number of reported deaths is probably higher than the real number (as you wrote), and still there is a pandemic. The reason for the drop in overall mortality is the measures being taken against the coronavirus (movement restrictions, masks, etc.).
So no, I have no additional thought. I get the impression that you don’t either. So we’re tied. 🙂

In my humble opinion, what is happening now is that there is an increase in morbidity in the Arab sector, some of whose cities and villages are “red.” So that they wouldn’t impose a lockdown only on the Arabs, they also turned Haredi cities “red” by means of manipulation (including yeshiva students who study outside the city and were tested en masse at the beginning of the term).
Another indication of increased morbidity specifically in the north is the pressure on the coronavirus wards specifically in the northern region, which requires transferring coronavirus patients to the central region. According to Prof. Yonatan Halevi, director-general of Shaare Zedek, occupancy in the coronavirus wards in the country is not full (70–80%), and the talk of an imminent collapse of the healthcare system is incorrect.
In short: all Israel are guarantors for the Arabs 🙂

And I’m unable to deal with the unsupported assertion that there isn’t.
Happy New Year to you too, sir.
Good week and Happy New Year
I actually did justify the claim—
Fact: there is no excess mortality in 2020 compared to previous years (official data)
Conclusion: there is no pandemic
That’s really just stating the obvious..

A bit about flu with good PR.
I’m unable to deal with the unsupported assertion, “There is a pandemic” 🙂
Happy New Year
