Q&A: Continuity
Continuity
Question
It is well known what the Chazon Ish says: that the foundation of success in learning is continuity. Someone who studies four hours straight is not comparable to someone who studies for an hour, stops for five minutes, then another hour and stops, and so on.
But in light of the latest scientific studies, we know that it is not healthy to remain seated for a long time, and also that the brain needs time to focus, then a few minutes to come out of focus and then return to focus, and then again a few minutes to come out of it, and so on and so on.
So practically speaking, who should one listen to? Is continuity really necessary in order to study well and efficiently?
Answer
Listen to what you yourself experience about yourself. There is no point in dealing with statistics, because this is a personal matter.
