Q&A: Betrothal
Betrothal
Question
I asked a question on the site about acquisition in betrothal, and you uploaded an article from Akdamot in which you argued that in order to create the legal status of a married woman, one performs an act of acquisition whose meaning is not to buy but to confer a legal effect. I asked why that legal status is created specifically through an act of acquisition and not through some other action. Or, from another angle, what are the acts that confer a legal effect?
Many thanks in advance.
Answer
I do not understand why your question is connected to what I wrote. Why does an act effect acquisition? Could you answer that even without relying on what I wrote? In general, an act is needed that expresses or brings about firm intent, and that is how the acquisition takes effect.
