Q&A: Haredim
Haredim
Question
Hello Rabbi,
I read Benjamin Brown’s books about the Haredim (The Guide to Haredi Society, A Society in Transition), as well as Haim Zicherman’s book (Black, Blue and White),
and as someone who researches the Haredi sector, I wanted to know what your opinion is of the sector, its rabbis, and its approach (withdrawing from the world and the like).
I’d be glad for an answer.
Itamar
P.S. If you have a column on the subject, I’d be happy to read it.
Answer
I’m not a researcher of the Haredi sector, nor of any other sector. Things about it are scattered around the site, but I don’t recall anything concentrated in one place. If you have a specific question, post it here.
Discussion on Answer
What can you do—it's painful that there are Jews under coercion who suffer because of rabbis’ manipulations.
On what basis are you determining that they’re "under coercion"? It seems more like you’re "coerced" into thinking that all Haredim are under coercion…
I’ll give you a sign:
Go through the Rabbi’s articles; in the places where you find him expressing himself in the harshest language of hatred, with all the schmaltz and juiciness, you should know that that’s the Rabbi’s view of the Haredim.
