Marriage Between Men
Question
Good afternoon!
I’ve long wondered, especially in light of the Rabbi’s article, why gay men specifically ask that their relationship as a pair be recognized, rather than, for example, a relationship of four men. Who decided that for a relationship it has to be specifically one person with one woman (or at any rate one man with one man or one woman with one woman)? Isn’t it chutzpah not to allow that?
Thank you very much!
Answer
I assume that if there were a phenomenon of many people wanting a family of four men, they could demand recognition for that too. But you’re right that in principle there’s no reason to require that there be many such people.
