Q&A: Definition of Alternative Medicine
Definition of Alternative Medicine
Question
Hello,
Throughout the Mysticism series, the Rabbi defines:
Alternative medicine means treatment methods that do not work, because if they did work (and were tested in an orderly study, double-blind, etc.), they would fall under the category of conventional medicine.
The Rabbi identifies methods that have not been tested with methods that do not work. Why? Isn’t it enough to say that they are not known for certain to work, and therefore there is no reason to try them, and that the status of these methods is like standing on one foot and reciting things, etc. (with which I agree)?
Thank you.
Answer
That is exactly what I meant. We are talking about medicine that has not been tested, or also medicine that was tested and does not work.
