Q&A: An Atom Bomb on Nachman’s Grave
An Atom Bomb on Nachman’s Grave
Question
Hello Rabbi Michi,
Suppose Putin drops an atom bomb on the Breslov-cross sect in Uman—would the State of Israel have to deal with rescuing them, or could we just let them die and then a redeemer would come to Zion, inshallah?
Muhammad from Uman
Answer
I thought about deleting this nonsense, but because of my allergy I don’t censor. The question isn’t well-defined, so I assume it was only meant to vent anger at that sect in question.
Obviously, if people are in distress it is important to save them, despite their negligence. Do you mean that we should go to war against Russia? I assume nobody supports that. And if we’re talking about trying to rescue them without war—then of course any reasonable person would agree that yes. We rescue negligent people too, people who weren’t careful enough. There are intermediate cases between those two extremes, but there’s no way to discuss that in general.
So you poured out what was on your heart, and I answered.
