Question

Hello Rabbi,
I wanted to ask whether I am obligated to prostrate myself and bow in the synagogue together with the entire congregation on the mat/towel?
I have mixed feelings about this practice, and because of that I have avoided it until now.
My feelings are mixed because in my view a synagogue is not really a Temple, and prostrating there is a strange practice and somewhat out of place, bordering on being forbidden. But you can’t shop at the grocery store with feelings, so…

I would appreciate your explanation.
