Q&A: A Kid in Its Mother’s Milk
A Kid in Its Mother’s Milk
Question
A Kid in Its Mother’s Milk
I don’t understand why people don’t read the text in its plain sense. a0
In my opinion, the interpretation is unnecessarily stringent about everything and makes a “fence around the Torah.”
In my opinion, the intention was not to eat a nursing animal that is still nursing from its mother’s milk. A small kid. Still on its mother’s milk. It’s so simple and obvious. a0
What do you think? a0
Answer
If you do not accept the Oral Torah and conduct yourself according to the Written Torah, then we have different basic premises, and I don’t see much point in the discussion. Beyond that, even on the plain meaning I don’t agree with you. “To cook a kid in its mother’s milk” means to cook it in its mother’s milk, not to cook it in water while it is nursing from its mother.
And even logically, it is not clear why one should not cook it when it is small. How is that different from cooking a grown kid?
But as I said, there is the Oral Torah, and all these discussions seem pointless to me.
And of course, none of this is connected in any way to the issue of fences.
