Bibi’s Book
Question
With God’s help,
Bibi’s book was published on the internet. Is it permitted to read it?
Answer
If not with permission, then it is forbidden.
Discussion on Answer
I believe Bibi himself is behind the leak of his book, in order to scrape together a few more votes.
In an interview today with Amit Segal, he was asked about the leak and replied with a smug smile, “So what can I do?”
Even so, even if I’m right and Bibi leaked it, it could be that the financial rights belong to someone else, and therefore that would not permit copying it.
If I wouldn’t have bought it anyway, then why is there a problem? Seemingly this is “one benefits while the other does not lose.”
(I remember there’s some article by the Rabbi about copyright, but I’m not sure it’s connected here…)
Why isn’t this like property swept away by the sea?
For bandits like you, a conquest is enough. And even aside from that, it has nothing to do with property swept away by the sea. Even if others don’t pay, why shouldn’t you pay for what you owe?
Yes, but it’s Bibi! (His money is considered ownerless, no?)
