Regarding your claim in the trilogy and in the last lecture in the series on faith, that the survival of the Jewish people is not necessarily due to divine intervention, since it could also be by virtue of our culture through the Torah, I saw in Reason to Believe by Rabbi David Gottlieb that he surveys all the types of explanations for survival that historians have proposed, and proves that none of them really hold water, so it seems one is forced to conclude that this is a supernatural phenomenon.
