Liberalism places the value of life and the human being in first place; it aspires to equality among all people without distinction, to grant rights to every method, movement, and desire, and it even goes so far as vegetarianism and the complete abolition of the death penalty. Yet although revulsion toward abortion should have come naturally to it, the opposite happens: it fights in favor of abortion even when the fetus is at a very advanced stage, which leads to its destruction in the cruel way of scraping it out. This is very strange. Has liberalism’s pathological hatred toward religion, which struggles against abortions, blinded it to that extent?

I wrote a post about this (73). In my opinion, in many cases that really is the explanation. Beyond that, there is of course convenience. The mother’s convenience overrides the rights of the fetus. There are also tensions here surrounding the exploitation of the mother as a tool for producing offspring, and so on. All this blinds them to the grave problematic nature of murdering fetuses. It is indeed a shocking and astonishing blindness, especially when you see how total it is and how undisputed.
