Q&A: Is it permissible to believe such a Job-like report?
Is it permissible to believe such a Job-like report?
Question
Someone told me—someone who seemed to know what he was talking about—about a certain person who is currently a major general in Israel, and he claims to know about him that he agreed to the sale of attack submarines to an enemy state in exchange for financial gain, money that is now hidden in a bank account in Panama.
I don’t know where he serves in the intelligence services, or whether he serves there at all, and maybe he is relying on some slip of the tongue once made by former Mossad chief Pardo.
And if he said this publicly, and to far more than three people, is it permissible to believe it?
Only to be concerned about it?
All this with regard to a huge conflict of interest involving a Jew in Israel (albeit someone considered rather dubious).
Answer
Certainly not to believe it. To be concerned about it—perhaps.
