What do you think about the professors' letter in favor of the reform?
Question
https://www.ynet.co.il/news/article/skeblcaci I saw that your friend Professor Nadav Shnerb, as well as many Religious Zionist academics and others, also support it. Why do you disagree with them? Why did you come out so forcefully against the reform? It seems to me that any reasonable person would have to admit that it is necessary after the takeover that the judicial dictatorship has carried out against us since the 1990s.
Answer
There is really no dispute on this matter. See my column on this here. This is one of the illusions created by the public discourse. One side supports the reform but agrees that there is room for corrections, and the other side opposes it but agrees that some kind of reform is needed. There can be arguments over the details, but on this there is certainly no unanimity, not even within the same camp. Some of the signatories to the letter you mentioned said this explicitly (Ron Shapira, Oman, and others).
