Q&A: Class Schedule
Class Schedule
Question
Rabbi, I’m in fourth year and trying to build a study schedule to decide what to learn besides in-depth Talmud study. And I’m a bit lost among the many books and different kinds of material out there. Could you please recommend what, in your opinion, is important to learn besides Talmud within the yeshiva framework? Are there certain areas that are important to engage in, and specific books worth studying? Or maybe it’s all basically the same, and the only important thing is just to learn whatever you can, and it doesn’t really matter what?
Answer
It’s important to learn what you feel like learning, and it doesn’t really matter what. Just make sure you’re making progress, and little by little you’ll roll into directions that interest you. I’d go with the yeshiva’s program, unless you have a problem with it. There’s no need to reinvent the wheel, and there’s no algorithm that produces Torah scholars. You just have to study seriously and as much as possible. Much success, and may your strength grow in Torah.
